Double your gift with Barney & Barney!

The Barney & Barney Foundation has generously agreed to match $12,500 worth of donations to our capital campaign to build a new clinic to serve those working and living in the Poway Unified School District. That means any contribution you make to the campaign will have double the impact! Neighborhood Healthcare is thankful to Barney & Barney—their pledge will help raise $25,000 for the new clinic. As of February, we have just under $1,400 left to raise. Please help us reach our goal by the end of February and donate today at: https://app.etapestry.com/hosted/NeighborhoodHealthcare/OnlineDonation.htm

Neighborhood Healthcare would like to recognize Dr. James Schultz, Dr. Karin Schiff, Dr. Gabriel Rodarte, and Dr. Rogelio Samorano, who have all been named “Physicians of Exceptional Excellence” by the San Diego County Medical Society. Dr. Schultz is receiving this honor for the third time in the past nine years, a mark of distinction that only 76 San Diego physicians have achieved. Dr. Schiff, Dr. Rodarte and Dr. Samorano are first time selectees.

The honor of “Top Doctor” is given out based on nominations and votes from San Diego physicians. Dr. Schultz and Dr. Schiff are recognized in the field of family medicine. Dr. Rodarte and Dr. Samorano are in the honored in the psychiatry field, though they both have double board certification in psychiatry and family medicine.

Over the years, many Neighborhood Healthcare doctors have received this prestigious award. Patients at Neighborhood Healthcare can expect first-class care from providers that are recognized year after year as some of the best in San Diego and Riverside Counties.

Community Clinic for Poway Kick Off

On Tuesday, May 24, 2011, Neighborhood Healthcare kicked off the Capital Campaign for a Community Clinic for Poway. Attendees included Neighborhood Healthcare CEO Tracy Ream, Poway Councilman Dave Grosch, representatives from Palomar Pomerado Health, and many members of the Poway community.

Special guests in attendance included Alan and Debbie Gold, friends of Neighborhood Healthcare and long time residents of Poway. The Golds generously contributed to the purchase the plot of the land in Poway where the clinic will stand, and the clinic will be named after Alan’s late parents, Martin and Delia Gold. “We hope all the citizens of Poway and the surrounding communities will be able to rely on this clinic for many generations to come,” Alan explained.

The kick off ceremony allowed attendees to share their excitement for the opening of a new clinic—and they expressed that the need for such a place is incredibly great. Poway is one of the only areas in San Diego county without a community clinic, leaving many members of the community with significant barriers to quality healthcare. “Our city is very pleased, and I’m very pleased, that we will have a Neighborhood Healthcare clinic in the community. It’s been needed for a long, long time,” said Councilman Grosch.

Now, the fundraising begins! The capital campaign needs to raise three million dollars for the building, and Neighborhood Healthcare hopes to be seeing patients in the Poway clinic some time in 2013 or 2014.
