On December 19th, Neighborhood Health partnered with the Escondido Chamber of Commerce to collect donations of pajamas, blankets and toys at the Chamber’s Annual Community in Unity Event.
Pajamas were collected for patients of Rady Children’s and their families staying at Ronald McDonald House. Toys were gathered for the Police Athletic League. Blankets were gathered to provide comfort for clients of Elizabeth Hospice.
The Community in Unity event is usually held annually in December and is intended to be the last chamber mixer of the year. In previous years, it would feature local restaurants, vineyards and breweries – as we all as collect items to donate to Ronald McDonald House, and the Police Athletic League (PAL).
Restrictions associated with COVID made gathering impossible but the desire to still give back was seen as critical.
The California Center for the Arts hosted the collection of these items on their campus during the Northern Lights display at the Center’s campus and collectively, the effort was able to ensure children and this year, hospice patients, received much needed donations. We are Better Together!
