A diverse team of Neighborhood staff (clinical, operational, and administrative staff) participated in the 2020 Center for Care Innovations learning collaborative. This statewide cohort pushes its members to be on the cutting edge of innovation and creative thinking to benefit the patients they serve.
Neighborhood’s team focused on the successful implementation of a virtual video visit platform that increases access to care, and improves upon the convenience and satisfaction for our patients.
Video visits are superior to telephone visits. The team needed to find a way for doctors and medical staff to navigate the patient’s technology capabilities without sacrificing the privacy of the patient, the quality of care, or the patient’s satisfaction with their visit.

The team explored three different physical configurations with the provider and medical assistant. They ultimately discovered that placing the provider in their own private office with a sliding window that could be opened/close to speak with the medical assistant provided maximum privacy without losing accessibility.
If patients do not have the ability to navigate the technology for a video visit, but need to be seen in person, a Mobile Care Team will be sent to the patient’s home. The purpose is to help patients stay healthy by doing their routine tests and check-ups outside the four walls of traditional health care settings, known as “remote patient monitoring.”
Neighborhood has already been accepted to participate in the 2021 CCI Learning Collaborative and will be working on innovative solutions to address Digital Equity and Literacy to further the success and access of virtual care for our patients.
Neighborhood team members in the 2020 cohort: Jeffrey Glenn, Chief Operating Officer; Dr. Paige Thiermann, Regional Medical Director; Maura Mireles, Director of Operations, Dr. Melissa Bishop, Medical Director of Quality, Janeth Guevara, Electronic Medical Records Specialist, and Dolly Hogan, Site Manager.
