Neighborhood Healthcare is only one of approximately twenty Federally Qualified Health Centers in San Diego County. And as a designated community health center, Neighborhood is uniquely positioned to provide healthcare services across the most diversified socioeconomic strata. Our unique designation as a FQHC allows us to do what many others cannot: provide resources and access to better care regardless of situation or circumstance.
Neighborhood believes a true community is not just about being geographically close to someone or part of the same social web or network. It’s about feeling connected and responsible for what happens to those with outstretched hands. We believe humanity is our ultimate community, and we play a crucial role in nurturing those who come to us for help.
Most recently, the Mexican Consulate contacted Neighborhood asking if dental supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss could be gifted to those in need. Within a day, employees from Neighborhood Healthcare came together to prepare nearly 1,500 oral hygiene items for delivery. The following day, 1,500 toothbrushes, toothpaste containers, and floss were delivered- each item finding a home, a home with outstretched hands.
The Mexican Consulate, after having received the much-needed supplies, distributed dental items to children staying at the San Diego Convention Center.
Often, Neighborhood doesn’t ask “who” but “how”. How can we help? How can we better the reality of this situation? Often, the answer comes with ease. In asking “how”, we become reunited with our mission and feel a deep responsibility to contribute positive to our world, working together to benefit our community and the people in it.
